Jamie has been cutting horses competitively for over 15 years and has an impressively long list of achievements, including winning the 2021 SQCHA Novice Horse of the Year award and placing 3rd at the 2021 NCHA Autumn Spectacular Show Open Derby, both with Hewitts Metallic Millions.
Raised in a large family near Muttaburra (Central Western QLD), Jamie enjoyed the rural lifestyle and grew up working with horses, sheep and cattle. His mother Pam was the driving force behind Jamie’s introduction to horse sports, and they travelled to local Pony Club, ag shows, hacking and dressage competitions.
Jamie has spent time in Canada and the United States with legendary cutting trainer and competitor Al Dunning, as well as working for Ben Hall (one of Australia’s most successful campdrafters). He spent four years further refining his skills with Australian cutting trainer Todd Graham, and in 2015 his big break arrived - Jamie competed in the NCHA Futurity on Melody’s Cat, winning the 1st Round and finalling in his very first futurity.
Jamie has been operating as a professional trainer since 2016, with his original stable of 10 growing to its current total 30-40 horses. Along with his wife Ella, the team work long hours to prepare clients' horses for competition and continue to achieve excellent results in the cutting pen.
