We're thrilled to announce talented young rider Amy Renton has been selected as winner of the 2026 Edwards Saddleworld Leg Up Bursary

Amy has already achieved an impressive equestrian career, showing dedication, sportsmanship and passion for her horses

She continues to shine in competition while balancing the hard work and commitment that comes with pursuing excellence in the sport

The Leg Up Bursary is designed to support riders like Amy as they take the next steps in their journey.

We are so proud to help her continue chasing her equestrian dreams!

Amy lives in Gargett, a small rural township about an hour’s drive west of Mackay. This year, Amy made the big transition from a small country primary school to the much larger St Patrick’s College in Mackay. Her new routine now includes a long bus ride to and from school each day, rather than the quick 10-minute trip she was used to.

At first, balancing school, travel and time with her ponies was a challenge, but Amy’s determination soon saw her find a way to fit everything in. Her love of horses has been a constant throughout her life, having received her own little pony at just two years old.

Amy began her competition journey through Pony Club, where showjumping was her favourite discipline. She attended her first PCQ Jump State
Championships at just seven years old. While she still loves jumping, Amy’s true passion is now dressage, making Interschool such a fantastic opportunity for her to pursue the sport she loves.

As a Para Classified rider, Amy competes in both Para and mainstream dressage classes. Her long-term goal is to represent Australia at the Para Olympics, while she also embraces the challenge of progressing through the levels in regular dressage competition.

Receiving the 2026 Bursary has meant so much to Amy. Alongside the incredible collection of prizes generously donated by the amazing
sponsors, the bursary has given Amy something even more meaningful, a sense of recognition and belief in herself.

Knowing that the judges and the people she looks up to within the sport believe in her has been incredibly special.

Amy would like to send her biggest thank you to Jordan and the Edwards Saddleworld team for creating such a wonderful opportunity, as well as to all the sponsors, judges and everyone who contributes to making the bursary possible.
